Welcome to the Island...

Utila is best traveled Saturday to Saturday, the only day there are scheduled flights to and from the island. Roatan and San Pedro Sula are the most popular gateways for those coming to Utila. LaCeiba has fewer international arrivals, but it is sometimes used.

Utila Tours will arrange your local flights. Please note: There are no runway lighs on Utila. Call us to get local flight information.

If you find it neccessary to arrive on another day of the week, Utila Tours can arrange charter flights or you can arrive in LaCeiba or Roatan in time for the local ferry. Again, your international arrival time will determine if you can make it to Utila in one day.

From LaCeiba: The ferry departs from Muelle de Cabotaje dock , the main cargo port.

From Utila: The ferry departs from the Municipal Dock in Utila, at the bottom of Broussard's Palza, in the center of town.

Time Zone : Utila is in the Central Time Zone but does not observe daylight savings time.

Electricity : 110 current (same as U.S.)

What to Bring : Extra batteries for any battery operated items you might bring; commonly used dive equipment replacement parts; sunblock; insect repellant (DEET base) or Skin-So-Soft; Tylenol, advil or asprin; it may be useful to pack travel size dose of commonly used medicines as these items are not readily available.

Entry Requirements

A valid passport with at least 6 months remaining from time of departing Honduras is required for entry. Some nationalities may also require a Visa.

There is a $3.00 entry fee into Honduras and a $35.00 fee to exit Honduras. There are other incidental airport taxes with connecting local flights usually not exceeding $5.00. Suggestion: bring a few $1.00 bills for these fees and baggage handlers.

Climate / Weather

The Bay Islands are known for their tropical climate. The average temperature is in the 80's (F) and ranges from the uppers 80's during the Summer months and the low 80's during the winter months. The occasional cold front sweeps through the island generally 2-3 times a year dropping the temperature into the high 60's for a few days. The average yearly rain fall is 100 inches, creating a lush green tropical paradise year round. The rainy season in the island falls between mid October to mid February. Currency

The Honduran currency is the Lempira, although U.S. dollars are welcome. Travelers checks, American Express, Visa, and Mastercard are accepted at Laguna Beach Resort. Credit cards are subject to a 7% fee. No personal check are taken at the resort.
